Star Trek

command gold and science blue against the black

EverBox.Space dashboard in the Star Trek theme — command gold and science blue against the black

The aesthetic

An away mission is the purest expression of what this app is for: something enormous is happening somewhere ahead of you, and the only evidence is an instrument quietly counting. The five rings step through amber from a deep brass at the year to a lit gold at the fastest — the saturated command gold of a tunic in daylight, not the dim brass of a console at night.

Three colours, and each has a department. Gold carries the dials. Science blue carries the controls — the buttons and the view toggle — as a soft gradient rather than a block, so they sit on the page instead of shouting from it. Ops red is reserved for the countdown titles, which is the one place on this screen that should catch your eye before anything else does. The ground is space black at both ends: a lighter sky turned the starfield to murk, and the point of the black is that the stars sit on it.

The starfield is the one decoration, and it is deliberately static. Stars do not twinkle without an atmosphere in the way, and a moving background would undo what this theme is trying to be. It fades in over two seconds on load, then never moves again.

What stays calm

A saturated gold is the easiest way to make an interface shout, so everything around it holds back. Glass cards keep the same neutral translucency they have in every theme, which reads as lit panels against the sky. Typography is untouched. Gold appears only in the dials and the progress bars, blue only on the controls, red only on the three countdown titles — never in body text, where any of the three would turn a calm surface into a warning light. Red is the loudest colour here, which is why it is confined to the six or seven words that most deserve it.

Who it's for

For the long countdown to something you have committed to and cannot hurry. For a second monitor that sits in the corner of your eye all day and needs to be dark enough to ignore. And for anyone who finds the idea of going somewhere new, carefully and with a competent crew, genuinely restful.

Star Trek EverBox theme

A command gold EverBox palette for countdowns, timers, and shared spaces. Gold dials at high saturation, science-blue controls, red countdown titles, a near-black ground lit blue, and a static starfield.

Command gold colour palette

Five steps of command gold: the year a dark bronze, the month an old brass, the day a full command gold, the hour a warm amber, and the fastest ring a pale wheat. Behind them, space — a near-black that keeps enough blue to read as lit rather than as empty, with panels a shade of deep navy. The dials are gold, the controls science blue, and the countdown titles a single alert red.
